If you told me 5 years ago that I’d be posing recently with Kristin for a photo at a friend’s wedding last week, I would’ve had some doubts. We’ve been together for over 30 years and it’s been difficult at times. Giving up would’ve been easy, but we realized we were better together than apart; what we had was worth preserving and could be made better.
There were times earlier in my career when I faced adversity, self-doubt, difficult people and difficult situations. Quitting would’ve been easy but I knew it’d come with regret. Instead, I fought for what was important to me. I was building something greater with my career and had to accept that it would come with pain, struggles and crisis, no matter where I worked. I persevered during some tough times and am glad I did.
You’re building a life and career. Expect adversity. There’s no escaping it. Confront it. Challenge yourself. Think long-term. Fight through the difficulties. It won’t be easy but it’ll be worth it.
