Just another reminder that we work to live, not the other way around.
I haven’t missed a Penn State football home game in years, and I put on a huge tailgate at each game. Over the course of the years, I’ve met some of the most diverse and best people in the world, and count many of them as my closest friends. The gameday experience is part of my lifestyle, my wife’s lifestyle. But all of that was put to the test in fall 2021.
I took on a new career challenge in a new place, leaving my wife and family in Pennsylvania while I set up a separate home in Florida for the career opportunity. I told my wife I’d do my best to make it to 3 or 4 home games but not all 7. She said “no, you’re making it to all of them”…so I did. It wasn’t easy and I found myself on planes non-stop almost every weekend of the fall. I was worn-down and exhausted but it was worth it. Yes, work has to be a priority, but so does life and family.
Don’t miss too many teeball games, recitals, or family dinners because of work. Work will always be there…but life’s moments are fleeting.
