If we live to 80, we have 4,000 weeks. Use them wisely.
A close friend of mine saw his father pass a few months ago. Another close friend’s father passed a few days ago. One of my closest friend’s father is still going strong, but his father is over 90. Plus, I’m seeing many grade school, high school and college friends passing at young ages.
We’re not invincible and I’m not invincible, I know that clearly. But most of us still see ourselves as young lions, even though we’ve got a lot of years in the rearview mirror.
I wake each day with a strong mind, strong body. I wake with energy, conviction, commitment. But I also wake each day continuing to look for purpose, passion.
With each passing week I challenge myself to make sure I’m putting my time against the right things. Work will always be there. But your spouse may not, your kids may not, your parents may not, your close friends may not. While you’re chasing a career, don’t forget to remember what’s really important.
